History

The Athlone District Advice Office was established by members of the then Athlone North Branch of the ANC in early 1992 and was then known as the ANC Athlone North Advice Office.

The idea in mind was to address critical issues affecting our impoverished communities ridden with poverty, high crime, unemployment substance abuse and injustice.
The advice office has since changed its name to the Athlone District Advice Office and became a non-political structure serving the communities of the Cape Flats

Today we are a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, who continue to provide a crucial service of access to justice to our vulnerable and marginalized communities in our area. This we do through the promotion of Human Rights, the Bill of Rights and also the education of our Constitution.
